Today I wanted to provide some tips for minimizing the consumption and clutter in your lives, especially for those with kids. I am pulling from my book, “Minimalist Living for a Maximum Life” where I provide even more resources and tools for simplifying your life.
I start with ideas on gifts for your kids and/or family. How we value experience instead of stuff. We also do toy rotation, sharing with friends and many more neat ideas to keep spending and toy clutter at bay. I also jump in to how useful online garage sales can be in selling your items as well as purchasing used items. Same philosophy applies to clothes including shirts and pants for kiddos.
We have minimized our cleaning and hygiene routine by using the following items:
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Baking Soda
- Dr. Bronner’s Soap
- White Vinegar
- Hydrogen Peroxide
- Coconut Oil
I also discuss the “no Shampoo movement and how that helped us conserve water, save money on supplies and creates beautiful well-balanced hair naturally. I go into easy and affordable cleaning routines throughout your house. I jump into some great tips to downsizing your clothes to really see what you actually wear. We often enjoy the look of our shirts and pants but we only wear them once or twice a year, so it’s not really worth keeping. The easiest way to minimize consumption is to get outside and do free activities, such as swimming, hiking, biking, climbing , etc.
